There was a time when I, like so many others, faced life’s hardest storms — trauma, loss, and rebuilding from the ground up. But in those moments of darkness, animals became my light. Their unconditional love reminded me that even the broken can be mended, and that healing often begins with connection — not just between people, but between hearts that beat with understanding.

Through that experience, I realized something powerful: while people in crisis often have access to support systems, their beloved pets rarely do. Whether someone is entering medical treatment, fleeing domestic violence, or recovering from addiction, they’re often faced with an impossible choice — get help or keep their animal. That’s where Paws N Claws for the Cause steps in.

We’re designing and implementing a national database and mobile app that will streamline the foster process — from applications and background checks to meet-and-greets and caregiver matching. This system will connect foster families, pet owners, and partner organizations across the country, making it easier than ever to keep families — both two- and four-legged — together through life’s challenges.

Our dream extends far beyond a single program. The National Animal Foster Network (NAFN) will serve as a unified, nationwide system connecting fosters, shelters, veterinarians, and organizations with individuals in crisis who need temporary care for their pets.

Imagine:

• A national map of verified foster homes ready to step in during a medical emergency or natural disaster.

• A simplified process for shelters to place overflow animals quickly and safely.

• Partnerships with veterinarians, pet supply stores, and trainers offering discounts and resources for foster families.
